What does the poet mean by “ever-widening thought and action” in the poem ‘Where the Mind is Without Fear’?

‘Ever widening thought and action’ means that we should not be narrow or shallow in our mentality. People should have a broad mind and a broad heart. They should enrich their thinking day by day. We should also better our works gradually. In short, we should develop ourselves to become a better thinker and a more efficient performer.

Through the phrase ‘ ever widening thought and action’ , the poet says that  his countrymen should have a broad mind and a broad heart. This would lead to the betterment of the nation.

It means that there should be pragmatic and realistic thoughts which would produce suitable actions for the betterment of the society.
